What is a Lolcat?

A Lolcat is a funny pic of a cat paired with a caption (usually in lolspeak) that makes you lol! It’s pronounced as LOL-cat.

What is Lolspeak?

Lolspeak is a language built on bad grammar, and Internet slang. For example: “omg, uz don know lolspeak? srsly!!!1?”

How Can I make my own Lol?

First log into your Cheezburger account, then click on the LOL builder tab. You can create a LOL by using one of our thousands of user-uploaded photos, or you can upload your own. For a quick caption, use the basic builder. For something a bit more sophisticated use the Advanced builder and put captions into thought or speech bubbles! You can also make a poster with the Poster Builder or use the Breaking News Builder to create a headline story out of your LOL! So many options, we know… go ahead, try them all!

How do I use the advanced builder?

In the advanced builder, you can add a speech or thought bubble. Click inside the bubble to personalize the text. Stretch the bubble by pulling one of the surrounding white dots, or rotate and change the bubble direction by dragging the green dots. To move the placement of the bubble, move your cursor over the grey outline and drag the box anywhere you want!You can also add captions without bubbles and add cartoon eyes using the Advanced builders.

Why do I need to give you my email address to make a LOL?

We do not share your email address or personal information with anyone without your written consent. We ask for your email address so that you have the ability to email your LOLs to friends, and so that we have an easy way to find your LOL if you request that it be removed.

I made a LOL, now that I see it on the site, there is an icanhascheezburger watermark on it, why?

When you submit and save your LOL you are granting Cheezburger non-exclusive rights to your image and caption. For yours and Cheezburger’s protection, watermarks are added to all the photos that are posted to a Cheezburger Network site.

How do I get my avatar to appear in the comments?

To customize your avatar for comments, you must have a WordPress account/profile registered under the same email address as your Cheezburger account.Here are some instructions to do this:

  1. Go to http://www.wordpress.com
  2. Create an account, remember to use the same email address that you have attached to your Cheezburger account.
  3. Log into your account
  4. Go to “My Account”
  5. Click on “Edit Profile”
  6. Click on “Change Your Gravatar”
  7. You can upload a photo from your computer, take a shot with your webcam, or use an avatar on another or previous WordPress account.
  8. Then refresh and you should see your updated Gravatar on WordPress.
  9. Post a comment on a Cheezburger site and you should see your updated avatar!

Note: This will not change your Cheezburger profile pic that you see in the upper right corner when you are logged in. To do that click on “Edit Picture” and upload a photo. You may need to log out and back in for this to update.

We plan on making this a simpler process in the future.

How do I find friends?

First, log into your account, then click on “My Cheezburger”, on the upper right above your avatar. On the right side you will see a “Find Friends” button. Click the “Find Friends” button and you can search for friends by user name, email address, or you can search your existing email contacts to see which of your friends already have Cheezburger accounts.

Where do I submit my videos?

We love to get videos, you can upload them right here: http://cheezburger.com/submitvideo.aspx. (we are unable to accept videos that are hosted on Facebook at this time)

How can I change my email address/username/password?

For all profile adjustments, please write to us at contactus@cheezburger.com. Let us know your current Cheezburger info and what you would like it changed to.

How do I delete my profile?

We are sad to see you go! Remember that deleting your account also results in the deletion of all the Lols that you have created including any photos you have uploaded. If you are sure you would like to delete your account, please write to us at contactus@cheezburger.com. Please let us know the user name and email address attached to the account, along with the reason why you wish to delete the account.

How can I get a daily email?

All of our sites have a Daily Email option. Subscribe on the home page of any site, to the right of the first LOL on the home page.

How can I subscribe to an RSS feed?

Keep up with the latest and greatest on the Cheezburger Network by subscribing to our RSS feed. Plug us into your favorite web-based news reader!

How do I get my Lol on the main page?

After you create and submit a Lol, it does not upload to the home page or the voting page immediately. It is sent to our awesome team of moderators to make sure there is no ‘R’ rated funnies involved. Depending on the volume of submissions, the time it spends awaiting moderation will vary.

When you are logged into your Cheezburger account, your submissions will appear on your “my lolz” page, so your personal Cheezfriends can vote for and favorite them. Lols are placed on the voting page by the moderators based on how well the content fits the site and what type of material has been most popular in the past. If your Lol is selected for the voting page, it will only be added to the home page based largely on the number of votes and favs it receives, but this also doesn’t guarantee your Lol will be featured on the home page (e.g., it has copyright issues or it has been flagged as inappropriate). Sometimes Lols are placed on the home page without even being placed on the voting page, but again, this is the moderator’s decision.

If your Lol makes it to the home page, we’ll send you an email letting you know (given you provided it when made your submission). Every site is a little different and is run by different moderators, which is why you may have different results depending on which site you are submitting to. We believe that every Lol should get it’s few moments in the spotlight and we do the best to give all Lols the exposure they deserve. Please continue to submit content to the Cheezburger sites, we love seeing your creativity!

Why aren’t all of the Cheezburger sites listed in the footer?

Some of the sites on Cheezburger Network are not so “work safe”. In order to protect from any potential mis-clicks, we don’t list the “not safe for work” sites in the footer. Commonly used acronym: NSFW (not safe for work), meaning that the site may contain some content that is inappropriate in a work environment.

Why can’t I load cheezburger.com on my mobile device?

The Cheezburger Network sites have a lot, we mean A LOT, of content on them, so they may be slow to load on your mobile device. We have an official Cheezburger Network app in the works now!

I ordered a shirt, where is it?

Lolmart shirts are limited edition, custom designed shirts. It takes us a little time to print the batch of shirts and then ship them off to their new owners. Your shirt order may take up to 3 weeks in production, and then will be shipped via UPS Mail Innovations.
