Do your friends and parents understand where you work?
Surprisingly, yes. My sister introduced Cheezburger to my family in 2007 when her cat was selected as one of the first LOLcats (Rescue Cat!) and later featured in the first printed book. When I applied to Cheezburger, I gave the CEO a letter of reference from that cat.

Tell us a behind-the-scenes story!
Ben and Emily’s dog Nemo once contributed to a creative brainstorming session by peeing on my dining room rug.

Micron might be the best looking Cheezburger dog. Does that make your other dog jealous?
Did you just call my other dog ugly? Dude, that’s cold.

So you used to live in New York?
Yep, for 11 years. For 7 of those years, I lived in a small box in the East Village. I could stretch out my arms and touch both walls of my living room. My knees hit the wall when I sat on the toilet. The other 4 years were spent living in Brooklyn in a slightly larger box. As much as I love Seattle, I’ll always love NYC.

Favorite meme right now?
“Neil deGrasse Tyson Reaction” otherwise known as “We’ve got a badass over here.”
I get a lot of crushes on nerds. My home office is covered in photos of Spock and Data.

Is there anything you used to think was terrible that you now think is really funny?
When I was younger, I thought just about everything was terrible because “the world is cruel and people are ignorant.” Eventually I realized I was just being a self-righteous ass. So yeah, self-righteous asses are totally hilarious to me now.

What fictional character would you like to be for one day?
The Internet.

Anything else you want to tell us about yourself?
My sister and I published a dating book called the “Rock and Roll Field Guide to Guys.”
I have a large mineral and fossil collection.

We are currently testing out a voting system for the new Cheezburger. As we evaluate the results, we’d like to hear what makes you happy when it comes to casting your vote.

This new voting system that has launched on the beta allows you to score the content by clicking a “thumbs down” or a “thumbs up” button. We are trying this system because the majority of “burgers” that were clicked on the old voting system was either 1 burger or 5 burgers–which translates to thumbs down or thumbs up. Let us know what you think!

We haven’t implemented a more in depth and permanent voting method yet because we want to make sure it’s a feature that you will use, and most importantly one that will make you happy.

Will Sharick | Cheezburger Community Team Lead

What do you do and how long have you been doing it?
I work on the Community Team with Tofu and poppylady (I’m dollydally81). I’ve been working here for just over a year now and I love it! My role at Cheezburger includes a broad range of responsibilities and each day is different. My main focus is supporting the community. I consider myself a Cheezburger detective and work very closely with Dr. Tinycat when contacted about technical issues. I get to learn about all sorts of interesting stuff every day, some of which I will turn into content here on this new Cheezburger Community Support Site. I really want people to send me their own community support content so that I can feature it on this site!

Do your friends and parents understand where you work?
Yes! I love talking to my friends and parents about some of the cool stuff I work on. My friends and my mom (who I call the Ultimate Mother of Mayhem) get it and think it’s rad that I work here!

So I hear you have acting experience.
I was totally nominated for the “Thespian Award” at my eighth grade graduation for my main character role as a King in a play that my drama class collaboratively wrote. I lost (was robbed), but it’s cool because my peer who won, let’s call him Frank, ended up getting lots of congratulations for winning the “Lesbian Award.” Kids can be so cruel. Aside from that, I’ve done a few other plays here and there and I do very much enjoy it.

Tell us a behind-the-scenes story!
I tend to give off a really creepy vibe when I’m deep in thought. When processing a thought, I generally have no idea of what or whom I might be looking at. I’ve definitely creeped out a few of my colleagues (based on their facial expressions) when I come back to reality. When I’m not creeping, I’m rocking out to electropop at my desk while cracking up over the vast amount of funny content I get to see every day.

If you were a cocktail, what cocktail would you be?
I’d be a Negroni. I look good, I smell good, I’m sweet, and I’m bitter.

Favorite meme right now?
Most definitely would have to be Ridiculously Photogenic Guy because, ahem, I can relate.

What fictional character would you like to be for one day?
Stewie Griffin. In fact, I’m dressing up as him for Halloween this year. Anyone interested in being my date to a Halloween party will be required to be Brian.

Anything else you want to tell us about yourself?
I’m a 6’5” left-handed Virgo born in the year of the Cock and I’m currently training for the Rock ’n’ Roll half marathon in Portland on May 20th.

The new Cheezburger is testing out a different method for you to navigate through featured content! Infinite scroll is now available on all Cheezburger beta sites viewed from Firefox, Safari, and Chrome desktop browsers.

Infinite scroll allows you to view as much content as you’d like without having to click a “previous” or “next” button at the bottom of each page. Now, rather than having to move your mouse to click a button, more content automatically loads as you scroll your way down the page — making it easier for you to engage with the content.

What do you do and how long have you been doing it?
I’m the copy editor for the Content team here at Cheezburger. I’ve been doing that for a couple of months, but I’ve been with the company for almost two years. For a long time I was the de facto animal guy on content, running I Can Has Cheezburger?, I Has a Hotdog and Daily Squee all at once. Oh, I also run So Much Pun. I was an English major and now I get paid to make bad puns all day. How amazing is that?

So. They call you “Martha.”
About a month into my tenure here, I was handling a customer service request from a woman who lived in Iceland and for whom English was most assuredly a second or third language. Fun fact: Google Translate apparently turns Matthew into Martha when you switch it back and forth between English and Icelandic, or at least it did for her, since that is what she called me despite my name being listed in my e-mail signature. The name has stuck ever since.

What is your personal opinion on the Oxford Comma?
I hate it. HATE IT. I had a private party with myself on the day it “died.” I worked for a newspaper before joining Cheezburger, and the first thing a good newspaper editor does to the uninitiated reporter is smother out any affection for that blasted, unnecessary piece of punctuation. Unfortunately the rest of my coworkers on Content seem to think the Oxford Comma is the best thing since sliced bread, so I’m sadly not allowed to forbid it on our sites.

Do your friends and parents understand where you work?
My friends get it — many of them are regular visitors to many of our sites — but my parents still have difficulty accessing their e-mails (which I had to set up for them to begin with), so in their mind I just write puns about cats all day for this weird thing called a “website.” Which isn’t really that far from the truth, I suppose.

Tell us a behind-the-scenes story!
A lot goes on behind the scenes here, so here’s a recent story: Myself and a couple of coworkers started a Turntable.fm room that one person accurately described as “tactical musical warfare.” Working on the internet desensitizes you to almost everything. Carly Rae Jepsen, interestingly, does not fall under that almost everything umbrella. Call me maybe?

Favorite meme right now?
Dolan. When you work on the Internet, finding something that the rest of the Internet mostly hates is kind of refreshing. Also I just think Dolan is hilarious in general. Gooby pls. My all-time 5eva favorite will always be Reglob if u crey, though.

Is there anything you used to think was terrible that you now think is really funny?
I find myself mostly bored by the majority of Advice Animal memes, but occasionally I stumble across a good Lame Pun Coon or Anti-Joke Chicken and for a brief moment find myself feeling far more tolerant of those usually awful two-colored background macros. I that isn’t really much of a conversion story re: liking them as a whole or anything, but I definitely like Advice Animals more now than I did before I started working here.

Anything else you want to tell us about yourself?
My most recently acquired nickname in the office is Sexy Jesus Panda. You don’t need any context for something like that, right?

“Reposted By” will bring more functionality to the previous “Favorited By” feature which, according to your feedback, has been greatly missed! In addition to keeping track of who has favorited your post, this will also keep track of who added your post to their Cheezburger Site.

This feature now lets you see more love from your fans—by seeing who’s reposting you and to where. To access this feature from the front page, just click on the post’s title to view the single post page. You’ll see the avatars of everyone who has reposted your content below the post. Clicking through to the single post page from content on your profile (dashboard, favorites, etc.) will also show you who has reposted.

There is plenty more feedback that we are still reading, and we want to keep you in the loop as we continue to implement new features and make adjustments to the new Cheezburger.
